Our Impact.

We are proud of the impact that we have on people’s lives. It is thanks to the support of our donors, volunteers and advocates that we can continue our vital work in supporting people with mental health problems, learning disabilities and neurodivergence across Devon.

Here are just a few examples of how we have made a difference:

Becky’s story

We helped Becky to learn techniques to manage her wellbeing and gain friends in a supportive social group.

Taking part in the BeWell@StepOne courses and groups has helped me break the cycle, gain friends in a social group, and I have loads of support and forever learning new things, especially within the peer support from everyone in the group. I feel completely safe in a safe place

Supported through our BeWell@StepOne self-help courses and peer support groups.

Jaime’s story

We helped Jaime to overcome his agoraphobic tendencies, start afresh in a new city and start attending university.

Quite soon after working with Step One, my agoraphobic tendencies were challenged in a healthy and productive way; I went from a complete shut-in, afraid of answering the door, to regularly going outside every week alongside a variety of new faces.

Supported through our Community Support service.

Sarah’s story

We helped Sarah to build trust, hope and regain self-confidence.

They helped me in laying the foundation for the right aftercare and were experienced and skilled enough to support me in building trust and in regaining self-confidence by helping me to report to the police those events that caused me to be ill. This never happened before. They saved my life because I was becoming desperate and I now have hope.

Supported at our independent recovery and rehabilitation service, Cypress Hospital.
