Upcoming Courses, Workshops & Peer Support Groups

Our BeWell@StepOne service provides support to as many people as possible across the county through online courses, workshops and face-to-face peer support groups. We help people in need of mental health support to manage their own wellbeing and, through peer groups, support others in their communities.

Our courses are completely free and run by professional, qualified and supportive tutors with lived experience of mental health conditions.

What’s on this August?

– H.O.P.E Course (Helping Overcome Problems Effectively) – Monday 1st August

This 6-week online course developed by Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust is designed to help people to cope better with their long-term health conditions.

– Food & Mood Workshop – Monday 8th August

In this 2 hour workshop you will learn new skills and gain knowledge about what we are putting in our bodies and how it can affect our mental health.

– Managing Your Anger Course – Wednesday 10th August

Running over 4 weeks, this course will help you understand the anger emotion, teach you how to identify and deal with personal anger triggers and how to effectively deal with others when anger arises. This course isn’t about making anger disappear, but using anger in a healthy and controlled way.

– Behavioral Activation – An Outside-In Approach Course – Wednesday 31st August

This 4-week online course will allow you to explore strategies associated with behavioral activation, helping you to break the cycle of depression and build up the confidence and motivation to tackle depressive states.

What’s on this September?

– Braving Bereavement Course – Thursday 8th September

This 4 week online course allows you to explore your grief and encourage you not to ‘let go’ of the person you have lost, but find a way to move forward and carry on their memory with you.

– Changing Negative Self-Talk Workshop – Monday 12th September

We all have that little voice that makes us doubt ourselves, or gives us that internal negative feedback. This 2 hour workshop will help you to challenge that voice and consider alternative possibilities to make your inner voice more positive.

Nervous about joining?

We understand that people can be nervous about joining online groups and discussing mental health. Our supportive tutors have lived experience of mental health conditions and are happy to have a chat with you prior to any of the courses and before committing to joining. Please do contact us by emailing training@steponecharity.co.uk.
