Let’s kick-start July with enthusiasm, optimism, and high spirits. There’s lots on this month from holidays and events that you can participate in, to our upcoming BeWell@StepOne courses and workshops.

1st July – International Joke Day

Held every 1st  July, this day is designed to start the second half of the year with a smile and a chuckle.

2nd July – Thank You Day

This day is an opportunity to say thank you for everyone and everything that makes our communities great places to live in and to get connected with the people they live alongside all year round.

6th July – Declutter Your Home and Mind Course

This 4-week online course will be divided into two sections, the first two weeks will include topics related to decluttering your home and the second 2 weeks will explore ways to help you with the decluttering of your mind.

7th July – Computer Wellbeing Plan Course

This 4–week in-person course will involve creating and designing a wellness plan that will encourage you to find out a little more about yourself. The course will look at various wellbeing areas of your life and discuss how you can improve or manage them.

7th July – World Chocolate Day

World Chocolate Day is a global celebration of chocolate that takes place every year on the 7th of July. Did you know that dark chocolate contains neurochemicals like serotonin? Serotonin is a neurotransmitter known for regulating mood and cognitive function, which explains why indulging in dark chocolate can swiftly uplift your spirits on a bad day!

16th July – Ice Cream Day

With summer in full swing, this day couldn’t come at a better time. Enjoy a scoop of your favourite flavour in this warm summer weather.

19th July – Using Your Smartphone Workshop

This in person 2 hour workshop aims to help you learn more about how to use and make the most of your smartphone. The workshop aims to help you cope with the challenges the world of smartphones can present to those less comfortable with the digital age.

24th July – International Self-Care Day

Whether you spend it on a hike, with your pet, or curled up with a good book, taking time to care for yourself will go a long way towards improving your mental health. Discover ways to practice self-care.

25th July – National Schizophrenia Day

This day shines a light on the everyday challenges faced by hundreds of thousands of people living with a diagnosis of schizophrenia in the UK and millions more worldwide. It also looks at how we can tackle some of the stigma and discrimination surrounding this much-misunderstood illness. Find out more here.

26th July – Challenging Negative Self-Talk Workshop

We all have that little voice that makes us doubt ourselves or gives us that internal negative feedback.
This workshop will help you to challenge that voice and consider alternative possibilities to make your inner voice more positive.

30th July – Friendship Day

To mark the International Day of Friendship, the UN encourages governments, organisations, and community groups to hold events, activities and initiatives that promote solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation. Find out more here.

As we step into a fresh summer month, let us seize the chance to release all negativity that lingers from the previous month and shower ourselves in positivity. Let’s use July to learn new skills, create new connections, raise awareness for important causes, or take some time to unwind.  

Along with our BeWell@StepOne self-help courses and workshops, our experienced trainers also run weekly/fortnightly online and in-person peer support groups.These groups offer you an opportunity to meet others, share your experiences, discuss the techniques learnt in our courses, and develop self-management techniques to maintain good mental health.
