Would you like to get into the detail of what we do at Step One?

Why not have a look at our Quality Account? Each year we produce our Quality Account report where we review the progress and impact of our various services, and we look back over the previous year with our Chief Executive and our Board of Trustees.

The past year has been extremely challenging for everyone, and we’ve all experienced a lot of change. Step One swiftly adapted the way we deliver our services and the changes we made enabled us to keep working with the people we support throughout the pandemic.

Some of our services moved online, and we launched our BeWell@StepOne free-to-access remote learning and mental health support. While other services adopted stringent new social distancing and PPE measures to keep everyone safe.

We’re immensely proud of the calm and efficient way all our teams adopted new working practices, and their professionalism meant that in our Quality Account for 19-20 we reported that nearly 800 received support from Step One across all our services, for the period covered by the report.

We asked the people we work with to complete a survey about their experience of the support Step One offers through its various services – our most recent survey showed that 92% of people who completed the survey would recommend Step One to their family or friends if they needed similar support.

One of the highlights of the past year has been our success in launching two new services in the middle of the pandemic.

Our Torbay Community Access service launched in April of last year during the first lockdown. The TCA service worked with Devon Partnership NHS Trust to provide community support around Torbay to enable individuals to resolve issues that impact their mental health.

In response to the restrictions imposed as a result of Covid-19, we also launched our BeWell@StepOne project. BeWell@StepOne has been designed to provide free-to-access online support for people who are looking for help with their mental health. The number of people in need of mental health support has surged as we all struggle to navigate lockdown, social restrictions and isolation, and this service is proving to be invaluable to people across Devon.
