Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Take Action

Mental Health Awareness Week is a time to come together, start conversations, and make a meaningful difference. This year’s theme, Take Action, is all about the small and big steps we can take to support our own mental health and the wellbeing of those around us.

At Step One Charity, we believe that action doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as checking in with a friend, taking time to rest, or reaching out for support. Every action matters.

We’ve brought together voices from across Step One Charity to explore what “taking action” really means. In this special blog, colleagues share their experiences, insights, and practical ideas to support mental wellbeing.

What is Mental Health Awareness Week?

Mental Health Awareness Week is a global initiative observed in May that aims to highlight the importance of mental health, educate the public, and encourage open conversations about mental wellbeing and mental illness.

Throughout the week, Step One Charity will be out in the community and online, sharing support, advice, and opportunities to connect.

We’ll be attending a range of events during the week, offering information, resources, and a friendly face. Whether you’re looking for support or just want to learn more, we’d love to meet you.

BeWell@StepOne sessions

Our BeWell@StepOne sessions are designed to support your mental wellbeing in practical, accessible ways. During Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re offering a range of sessions to help you take action for your mental health.

Events we will be attending

During the week, we’ll be joining other fantastic local and national organisations to connect with our community, helping to raise awareness and guide people toward the support and services available to them.

Help us continue our support with just £3

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re asking for a small act of solidarity.
£1 for yourself: helping more people understand and take care of their own mental health.
£1 for someone else: supporting the conversations and connections that help people show up for each other.
£1 for all of us: funding work that challenges stigma and builds communities where mental health is taken seriously.

Take Action Today

Taking action for your mental health doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Start small. Start where you are.

Whether it’s joining a session, attending an event, reading our blog, or simply pausing to check in with yourself, every step counts.

If you need support, Step One Charity is here for you.
