This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 13th – 19th May and the theme is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’. Movement is something that many of us struggle to get enough of and can really impact our mental health. This week is all about taking care of your mental wellbeing, and Step One is here to help! We have a jam-packed schedule of events designed to get you moving, connecting with others, and feeling your best, whether it’s taking part in one of our wellbeing walks or visiting us at a local event. Read on to see how you can get involved.

Sunday 12th May
Bloom Festival at Exeter Phoenix

Join us at Exeter Phoenix for a day full of free wellbeing activities, support and information. Bloom Festival is an event to raise awareness and promote good mental health and wellbeing, encourage open discussion and discover the wide range of support and services available locally.

Monday 13th May
Exeter Yoga Wellbeing Group

Whether you’re new to yoga or have experience, everyone is welcome! We invite you to start a new journey of self-discovery with BeWell@StepOne with of our 6-week Exeter Yoga Wellbeing Group. This wellbeing activity offers many benefits, both physical and psychological.

Tuesday 14th May
Paignton Wellbeing Craft Peer Support Group
Men’s Wellbeing Walk
All Welcome Wellbeing Peer Support Group – Online

Join us in Paignton from 10am until 1pm for our Wellbeing Craft Group. The group is a great opportunity to get out, get creative and connect with others.

Our Men’s Wellbeing Walk offers men the opportunity to feel the benefit of getting out in the fresh air, connect with others, and enjoy the positive effect that spending time outside can have on both the body and mind.

Do you or someone you know feel isolated and lonely? If you/they have access to a computer, ipad or mobile phone, our All Welcome Wellbeing Group gives everyone a space to check-in on how they are feeling and connect with the rest of the group supporting them. This online peer support groups runs every Tuesday from 2pm until 4pm.

Wednesday 15th May
Exeter Wellbeing Craft Peer Support Group
Exeter Wellbeing Walk
Anxiety Peer Support Cafe – Online

We are excited to announce our brand-new Wellbeing Craft Group to run every Wednesday from 8th May 2024. This craft orientated peer support group will be hosted at our new hub, the X Centre on Exeter’s historic quayside, from 10am – 1pm.

Available to all, our Exeter Wellbeing Walk is designed to support people in increasing their activity levels and building connections with each other and the environment.

Our Anxiety Peer Support Cafe takes place every Wednesday from 2pm – 4pm via Zoom. It encourages self-help strategies to support your wellbeing and help you to understand and reduce the impacts of anxiety on day-to-day life.

Thursday 16th May
BeWell Toolbox Peer Support Group – Paignton

This in-person group offers the opportunity to explore a variety of self-help and self-management tools to support good mental health and wellbeing.

Friday 17th May
Recovery Devon’s Mental Health Awareness Fair – Exeter Library

We are excited to be joining Recovery Devon’s Mental Health Awareness Fair at Exeter Library for a second year. Step One will have a stand at the fair, along with other great local support providers, with lots of useful information on support available.
