How you can get involved with Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 12th – 18th May and the theme is ‘Community’. Being part of a community can make life feel more meaningful and enjoyable, help us feel happier and safer, and improve our mental health. But it can be tough figuring out how to get involved in your community. Join us for a whole host of activities and events throughout the week to help you connect with others and take care of your wellbeing. Read on to see how you can get involved.

Monday 12th May

  • Creative Writing Group: This online peer support groups offers you an opportunity to spend some time on your wellbeing by journaling or creating poetry.
  • Exeter Yoga Wellbeing Group: Discover the amazing benefits of yoga for your mental health, reduce anxiety, and make new connections with others.

Tuesday 13th May

  • Men’s Wellbeing Walk Paignton: This wellbeing walk offers men the opportunity to feel the benefit of getting out in the fresh air, connect with others, and enjoy the positive effect that spending time outside can have on both the body and mind
  • Paignton Wellbeing Craft Group: The group is a great opportunity to get out, get creative and connect with others.
  • BeWell Social Group: This online peer support group is designed to encourage self-help strategies and share useful resources that promote wellbeing, whilst also providing a supportive space to connect with like-minded individuals and have fun.

Wednesday 14th May

  • Exeter Wellbeing Walk: Increasing our activity levels and connecting with others can be a key strategy in lifting mood and reducing anxiety. Joining a walking group can be a wonderful way to start, one step at a time!
  • Exeter Wellbeing Craft Group: This in-person group is focused around craft, so you can get creative, put your artistic skills to the test and create something, or just come along for a coffee and a chat.
  • Wellbeing Wednesdays: This online peer support group provides the opportunity for some peer support through meeting and sharing with like-minded people facing similar challenges.
  • Exeter Central Station: Join us at Exeter Central Train Station on Wednesday 14th May from 8am –10.30am to find out more about our services, what wellbeing support is available and how you can get involved in all the exciting things happening within our organisation.

Thursday 15th May

  • Building Supportive Connections and Community: This workshop will emphasise the power of connection and how nurturing relationships can improve mental wellbeing.
  • BeWell Toolbox: This in-person group offers the opportunity to explore a variety of self-help and self-management tools to support good mental health and wellbeing.
  • Let’s Chalk in partnership with Princesshay: Join us at Princesshay Square on Thursday 15th May, 11am – 3pm, for their annual Mental Health Awareness event. We will be there, along with many other brilliant organisations, sharing mental health and wellbeing support, tips and guidance.

Friday 16th May

  • John Lewis: Find us in-store on Exeter High Street on Friday 16th May from 11am2pm to find out more about our services, what wellbeing support is available, how you can get involved in all the exciting things happening within our organisation and pick up a handmade mental health awareness ribbon.
  • Babbacombe Wellbeing Walk: Available to all, this walk is designed to support people in increasing their activity levels and building connections with each other and the environment.

Ways to get involved:

Communities connect, support, and give us a sense of belonging and purpose. From local to global, online to in-person, we all need community.
